10/11/25 - San Antonio, TX: Jade represented @liminalrootsbjj at @grapplingindustries, finishing 5 wins out of 9 matches in a tough bracket capturing bronze. 🥉

For us, podium is one of several measures of success. What stood out most today was Jade putting her preparation into action showing growth, composure, and execution under pressure.

We set goals for this tournament, and it was exciting to see them come to reality in key moments. Here are a couple of our favorites.

10/4/25 - San Marcos, TX: Five members of Liminal Roots competed in 9 divisions at the Austin II tournament by @jjworldleague. They did an amazing job capturing 5 gold medals and 4 silvers. Congratulations to these amazing athletes!

This marks their 3rd tournament since the beginning of September. Next one in 2 weeks at the Jiu Jitsu League event in Dallas 10/18. They are already looking forward to November and December events.

The moments between the matches are something special. Wishing every gym, every coach has the opportunity to experience and appreciate this type of team bonding. They’re more than just athletes.

First tournament under Liminal Roots, and we came home with 2 golds and 1 bronze, but much more than that we had a great weekend together. ✌️

Time passes and roles change. What was new becomes routine. The routine becomes new to someone else. They grow into roles they looked up to and what once felt big now fits just right.

Some days the training feels more playful. When that happens, I notice they’re more open and creative in their responses. They don’t even notice they’re doing deep work. A genuine understanding starts to form when they feel free to explore, experiment and even fail without the weight of performance pressure.

I enjoy giving them other responsibilities like peer coaching or refereeing. I feel it helps them develop calm, confident decisions by shifting their focus towards observing, guiding, and communicating.

There’s no need to figure it all out right now. The playful space lets them internalize the lesson rather than feeling judged on the outcome.
